Development Program
The BHA has instituted a state of the game concept to help improve and develop player skills throughout the house association. Typically, house hockey has been viewed as a recreational activity where players are not necessarily pushed to develop the skills necessary to play the game at higer levels including and not limited to High School hockey.
By implementing this program, the BHA is showing its commitment to the kids and to their progression from mini-mite hockey through bantam when players graduate from the BHA. The BHA has contracted with the Detroit Sports Company to provide a comprehensive program to ensure that all players achieve a core competence at each age group before progressing to the next level. With an emphasis on basic skills and skating, this program will allow the individual coaches to enhance the experience of the player by knowing that his or her team is on track with regard to player development.
The Detroit Sports Company brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and skill development by providing access to players who have played at all levels including the NHL. This group is working hand in hand with the BHA to ensure that players experience AAA or travel type practices on at least 10 sessions during the regular season as well as multiple opportunities to attend additional skill clinics. In Addition, the Detroit Sports Company hosts several coaching clinics throughout the season to address specific topics with the BHA coaches.
